Jakarta, 19 June 2019 — NS Solutions Corporations announced its investment in the second fund led by Indonesia’s leading venture capital firm Alpha JWC Ventures. The objective of the investment is for to search for promising technology companies in emerging Southeast Asian market, mainly in Indonesia.
NS Solutions is Japan’s leading company specializing in information technology solutions in Japan and internationally. The company was founded by Nippon Steel in 1980 which later merged with Sumitomo Metal Corp. in 2012. It offers services of system integration, cloud computing, and other technology solutions mostly for corporate clients. NS Solutions is headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo and led by President Director Hiroyuki Morita. The company has been listed in Tokyo Stock Exchange since October 2002.
The company is no stranger to Southeast Asian tech market. Since 2011, NS Solutions has established its subsidiaries in Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. In 2015, it made an investment to Indonesian company PT. Sakura System Solutions which provides technology services and solutions, from network management to software training, to corporates throughout Indonesia.
On the other hand, Alpha JWC Ventures has been operating in Indonesia since 2015 with local on-the ground team and led by partners who have been investing in Southeast Asia’s tech ecosystem since 2010. The firm currently manages two funds of US$ 50 million and US$ 100 million; has 28 active portfolio companies in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam; and has two exits so far: co-working space network Spacemob (acquired by workspace giant WeWork), and business news platform DealStreetAsia (acquired by Financial Times of Nikkei Group).
With the rapid development of digital transformation in Southeast Asian markets, many promising tech ventures have emerged and provide various technology services and solutions reflecting local needs. Through this partnership, which also marks NS Solutions’ first investment in Southeast Asian venture capital, both NS Solutions and Alpha JWC Ventures hope to accelerate the region’s digital economy growth.

NS Solutions will introduce local tech services and solutions of Alpha JWC Ventures’ current and upcoming startups to its local Japanese customers, and thus shall contribute to the startups’ business development. In the same time, through technology alliance, NS Solutions will share its group’s technology and know-how to the startups.
